Communication and Publicity - Handles all publicity for Camden Garden Club events. Includes print and online articles and photographs. Manages emails from the Club’s website and email account and updates the contact list in Gmail. Responsible for the yearly edits, production and distribution of the Yearbook.
Development - Responsible for all fundraising for the Club except the annual Tour and scholarships. Committee works closely with Civic and other project committees to help raise funds for their activities. It will explore creating an endowment fund, developing a grant management program and sponsoring special events to increase Club visibility.
Education - Finds speakers for the Winter Horticultural Series and coordinates our partnership with the Camden Library on publicity and use of Zoom. Arranges the programs for General Club Meetings, gathers speaker biographic information for publicity, greets and introduces speakers on presentation day. Manages the Club’s scholarship program, working with local schools to encourage applications from students pursuing degrees in horticulture-related fields, assessing applications, selecting recipients, and delivering awards. Also coordinates sponsorship financing with local summer camps.
Major Event - Organizes and directs major fundraising events for the Club, such as the Annual Garden Tour. Along with Tour Day Committee members, finds properties and coordinates interaction with homeowners, develops hostess schedule, publicity, ticket sales, parking, etc. Provides flower arrangements for each local.
Membership - Provides prospective members with information and membership application. Presents new members at the next General Club Meeting. Supplies member nametags and welcomes all members and guests at General Club meetings. Organizes the New Members’ Coffee and maintains contact with members. Also responsible for managing Hospitality activities for club meetings and organizing the members’ Annual Garden Party.
Public Spaces - Manages planting and maintenance of all Club-maintained gardens, including traffic islands, the Village Green, Public Landing gardens, bridge and arch boxes, Postage Stamp Garden, Mechanic Street Wall Garden, and lamppost baskets. Communicate with potential contractors, send out bids, answer questions, evaluate submittals and ensure contract activities completion. Responsible for selecting, purchasing, preparing, planting and maintaining all gardens. Manages lamppost wreaths, including making bows, assembling wreaths, and coordinating placement and removal of wreathes.
All Committee Chairs serve a two-year term.
