The Student Behind the Scholarship

Camden Garden Club annually awards scholarships to several Camden Hills Regional High School students. Club members work year-round on fundraisers to provide these scholarships. In anticipation of receiving more scholarship applications, the Club offers a look at the education and career path of one of its past recipients:

Isaac Milton Young graduated from Camden Hills Regional High School in 2014 and University of Maine, Fort Kent, in 2017. He applied for and won several scholarships that enabled him to graduate with a landscape architecture degree, debt-free.

He worked for the Sewall Apple Farms year-round and became close to the family, who mentored his progress towards a college degree. Now, in his sixth season, Isaac owns and operates IMY Landscaping, with 11 employees and 500 clients. His personal approach to business gives him the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with his clients and mentor his employees by teaching them how to manage their finances and use their work time effectively. He reminds them that, 'You are not remembered for what you take but what you give. "

Recently, the Club received a letter from Isaac that included the following:

β€œThe support I received from the Camden Garden Club played a pivotal role in my journey towards graduating college debt-free. It was this very assistance that enabled me to kickstart my own business. I am deeply grateful for the generosity and kindness extended to me during a time when I needed it the most.”

The Club wishes Isaac every continued success as it launches its second annual Lamppost Sponsorship initiative and looks forward to "helping outstanding local students through scholarships."
