The Club invites new and seasoned members to sign up for what we call a TROWEL and GROWL.

A “T and G” is like a gardening support group for its members. If you have ever had questions about plant identity, why a bush or plant isn’t thriving, what and where to plant things, or garden design, this group is for you.

This is a successful and fun way to get advice for your gardening woes and wonders from a group of passionate knowledgeable fellow gardeners. In addition, one of our Master Gardeners attends and offers guidance based on their own gardening backgrounds.  It’s a win-win for everyone. We all go home learning something new.

Trowel and Growls are casual, educational, social and fun – a great way for members to get to know each other in a small group environment.  They can be scheduled from April through October. Get a jump on your garden plans!

Please contact Karen Cease to schedule one. You and your gardens will love it!  kbcease@aol.com

Shannon and Curt Engler moved to Northport almost a year ago and as a result the development of their property is still in the infant phase. When we viewed their several acres of cleared, sloping “front yard” we must admit we felt a little out of our element. We had fun imagining what we would like to see in this open canvas of land. However, we came to vote unanimously that this broad stretch of space required a landscape architect to help envision a long-term plan for designing the entire property. A big project!

Since this was a late afternoon Trowel & Growl, Shannon and Curt treated us to homemade appetizers sweets, wine and more. Thank you, Shannon and Curt, for helping us to celebrate the end of the garden club season so grandly!

Kathie and Henry Neyman welcomed 11 of us to their home on 55 Good Wind Lane on Friday October 23 rd . The day was sunny but a bit chilly but there was hot coffee, yummy treats, warmth and fellowship in the kitchen. Their property challenge is the sandy soil and slopping back yard where they are determined to plant a vegetable garden. Highlights of the property were a pickle ball court and mature apple trees with robust fruit which is made available to the neighbors to pick when they walk by.

Thankyou Kathie and Henry for hosting us. A very lovely time. We hope you found some our suggestions helpful!
